Solution

The correct option is D a09
In damped oscillations, amplitude goes on decaying exponentially as,
a=a0ebt ....(i)

where b= damping coefficient, and a is the amplitude at any time t

The amplitude reduces to 13rd after 100 oscillations i.e after 100 complete cycles.

t=100×T

where T=time to complete one cycle or oscillation i.e. time period.

Substituting in Eq.(i)

a03=a0eb×100T

13=e100 bT ...(ii)

when the oscillator completes 200 oscillations,

a=a0eb×200T
a=a0[e100 bT]2 a=a0×[13]2

[substituting from eq. (ii)]
a=a09

Hence, (D) is the correct answer.
