Solution
The correct option is D Tungsten The Davisson-Germer experiment was conducted by two American scientists Clinton Davisson and Lester Germer, in 1927, to verify the de Broglie hypothesis that a material particle posses wave nature.
The Davisson and Germer experiment consisted of Nickel crystal (target), electron gun and a detector. The electron gun consisted of tungsten filament with high and low tension batteries. The low tension battery was used to heat the filament. The red hot filament produced the electron beam and the high tension battery accelerated that beam. The electron gun produced electron beam which was made to fall on the surface of nickel crystal normally. The detector moved on a graduated circular scale. A sensitive galvanometer was also connected to the detector.
