this is still economically viable form of life in dry and hilly areas because
1. In these areas, agriculture realted activities are not possible. so the population of these areas is highly dependent on pastorlism.
2. richer pastoralists bought land and settled down, giving up their nomadic life. Some became settled peasants cultivating land, others took to more extensive trading. but many poor pastoralists, on the other hand, borrowed money from moneylenders to survive. they lost their cattle and sheep and become labourers in field.this is not possible in dry and hilly areas.
