The correct option is B Adventitious roots
The ferns produce numerous roots on the rhizome. These are adventitious roots. Each root emerges from deep within the stem tissue. The roots possess root hairs and have root caps at their growing tips. Morphologically the roots are similar to that of flowering plants. When the leaf tip of 'walking fern' (Adiantum spp.) comes in contact of soil, it gives adventitious roots, at the point of contact with the soil and a new fern plant develops.
