∠ACB + ∠ACD = 180°
⇒ 40° + y° = 180°
⇒ y° = 140°
⇒ y = 140
Now, ∠ACD = ∠ABC + ∠BAC [Exterior angle property]

⇒ 7x° = 140°
⇒ x = 20
Hence, the correct answer is option (c).
