In fig., CP and CQ are tangents to a circle with center O. ARB is another tangent touching the circle at R. If CP = 11 cm and BC = 7 cm, then find the length (in cm) of BR

As the lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal,

CQ = CP = 11

BQ = CQ – BC

BQ = 11 – 7

BQ = 4

Now BR = BQ

Hence BR = 4 cm
