but here is what I have figured out.

• AC=BC ( since C is the midpoint of AB) - equation 1
• XD=DY (since D is the midpoint of XY) - equation 2

given :AC = XD -equation 3

From 1&2
AC=BC=XD -equation 4
From 2&3
XD=DY=AC -equation 5

From 4&5
AC=BC=XD=DY -equation 6

So adding AC+BC =AB
=XD+DY=XY (from equation 6)

Therefore AB=XY
Hence proved.
