In figure assume that there is negligible friction between the blocks and table. Compute the tension in the cord connecting m2 and the pulley and acceleration of m2 if m1=300 g, m2=200 g and F=0.40 N.

Let , Tension in the string connecting pulley and block of mass m2 be T, therefore tension on string connecting pulley and block of mass m1 will be T/2.let acceleration of block of mass m2 be a2 and that of m1 be a1.
Now,
from F.B.D. of block of mass m2,
we get,
FT=m2(a2) .....(1)
also, from F.B.D. of block of mass m1,
we get,
T/2=m1(a1) .....(2)
Using constraint equation,
we get,
(a2)(T)+(a1)(T/2)=0
a1=2(a2) .....(3)
On solving eqn1 , 2 , and 3;
we've
Ans:
a2 = 0.37ms2
and T = 0.296N
