The correct option is C 2 cm We know that the perpendicular from the centre of a circle to a chord bisects the chord. ⟹AC=CB=12AB=12×8=4cm
Given that OA= 5 cm.
Using Pythagoras' theorem in △OAC, AO2=AC2+OC2.
i.e., 52=42+OC2 ⟹OC2=25−16=9 ⟹OC=3cm
[taking positive square root, because length is always positive]
