Line of symmetry is a line that divides a figure into two congruent parts, each of which is the mirror images of the other.Each of the part when folded coincides with each other.An octagon is a polygon having 8 sides.In case the octagon is an irregular figure, then one can assume that there is no lines of symmetry.But if the octagon is regular, that is all its 8 sides are of equal measure and interior angles at all the vertex are also of same measure.Then in this case, it has 8 lines of symmetry, which are at equal distance from the center of octagon.Out of these, 4 lines of symmetry of the regular octagon passes through the vertex of the octagon and meet the opposite vertex of octagon. The remaining 4 lines of symmetry passes through the mid points of the edges of octagon.The same result is true for regular Nonagon and regular Decagon
