In general if two points are on $x-$axis, which formula do you apply for distance between them and if two points are on $y-$axis, which formula do you apply for distance between them and why?

If two points on $x-axis$ them$,$

Let$,$ two points on $x-axis$ is $A\left(x_1,0\right)$ and $B\left(x_2,0\right)$ then distance between them

$d_1=\sqrt{{\left(x_2-x_1\right)}^2+0^2}$

$=\left|x_2-x_1\right|$

If two points on $y-axis$ then$,$

Let$,$ two points on $y-axis$ is $A\left(0,y_1\right)$ and $B\left(0,y_2\right)$ then distance between them

$d_2=\sqrt{0^2+{\left(y_2-y_1\right)}^2}$

$=\left|y_2-y_1\right|.$
