Question

In heterogenous catalysis is it possible to have the reactants as one solid and another liquid and the catalysis as solid?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
In heterogeneous catalysis both the reactants should be in the same phase .The reactants should not be in different states. Although the product formed can be in phase different from reactants but the reactants should always be in the same state.
The reactants get adsorbed on the surface of the catalyst and after that product is formed and gets released by desorption.
