Solution

The correct option is C Fallopian tube
Fertilisation is the fusion of sperm and egg and it results in the formation of a diploid zygote. Millions of sperms are deposited in the vagina during sexual intercourse and this process is called insemination. The sperms swim actively in the female genital tract through the cervix and enter into the uterus and finally reach the fallopian tubes at the junction of isthmus and ampulla. The ovum which is released after ovulation also reaches the ampullary-isthmic junction where fertilisation occurs between the sperm and the ovum. Hence, fertilisation occurs in the ampullary-isthmic junction of fallopian tubes.
So, the correct answer is 'Fallopian tube'.
