In India, Tropical rainforests are found on the western slopes of the Western Ghats, areas near the Gulf of Mannar in the Eastern Ghats, the Purvanchal range of the Himalayas, the Lakshadweep Islands and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. These regions receive heavy rainfall particularly during the monsoon. This helps these forests to thrive in these areas.
Tropical rainforests encompass these following states of India:
1. Western Ghats: Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Goa and parts of Maharashtra.
2. Eastern Ghats: Parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry
3. Purvanchal Himalaya: Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram and parts of Tripura, West Bengal and Assam.
4. Andaman and Nicobar Islands
