Solution

The correct option is C Protein
The regulator gene of lac operon codes for repressor proteins that binds to operators or promoters and prevent RNA polymerase from transcribing RNA. Binding of lactose to repressor causes a structural change in the repressor which in turn loses its affinity for the operator. Now, RNA polymerase bind to the promoter and transcribe the structural genes. DNA and RNA are polymers of deoxyribonucleotides and ribonucleotides respectively. The repressor of lac operon is product of translation and hence, is not DNA/RNA but is a protein. Correct option is C.
