The correct option is D pyruvic acid
Lactic acid fermentation occurs in lactic acid bacteria (eg:- Lactobacillus), some fungi and muscles. In lactic acid fermentation, pyruvic acid produced in glycolysis is directly reduced (gain or acceptance of electrons) by NADH to form lactic acid. No CO2 is produced during this process. The enzyme involved in this process is lactic acid dehydrogenase which requires FMN (flavin mononucleotide) and Zn2+.
