Solution

The correct option is D reduction division occurs in the megaspore mother cells
In most of the angiosperms megaspore mother cell (2n) divides meiotically to produce 4 cells. Out of these 3 degenerate and one remains which forms functional megaspore. This divides mitotically and forms embryo sac which contains following structures (i) One egg cell with 2 synergids forming an egg apparatus.
(ii) There are 3 antipodal cells.
(iii) There are two central cells which fuse to form the secondary nucleus (2n).

Egg does not have filiform apparatus. It is the synergids which have special cellular thickenings at the micropylar tip which is called filiform apparatus. This guides pollen tube into the synergids.
