Crassulaceae is a CAM (Crassulacean Acid Metabolism) plant. CAM plants are the succulent plants which grow in deserts and are exposed to high temperatures. In these plants, stomata open during the night and close during the day time. At night, CAM plants open their stomata, allowing carbon dioxide to diffuse into the leaves. This carbon dioxide is fixed into oxaloacetate by the enzyme PEP carboxylase that is converted to malate or other organic acids During day time the organic acids are broken down to release carbon dioxide which enters Calvin cycle. Thus the correct answer is option A.
