Solution
Self pollination in F2 generation
Mendal pollinated a pure breeding tall plant with a pure breeding dwarf plant in order to obtain the F1 generation. He got only the tall plants in the F1 generation as the dwarf plants were missing.
He simply self pollinated the tall plant of F1 generation to extract out another character (dwarf) which was hidden (recessive) in F1. It helped in studying the effects of dominant and recessive alleles of a gene.
