Solution

Solution:
The Lok Sabha enjoys more power as it is the house with directly elected members. Rajya Sabha, on the other hand, is composed of indirectly elected members. The primary role of the Rajya Sabha is to look after the interests of states and federal units.

Powers of Lok Sabha:
  • An ordinary law needs to be passed by both Houses. But in case of a deadlock between the two, a joint session is conducted. And since the Lok Sabha has more members, its decisions are more likely to prevail.
  • The Lok Sabha has the power of passing budgets which the Rajya Sabha can not reject. It can make some suggestions, but it's up to the Lok Sabha to accept it.
  • Even the control over the government is exercised by the Lok Sabha. Without majority support in Lok Sabha, a person cannot be appointed as the Prime Minister.
  • This house can also cause the dissolution of the government by passing a no-confidence motion!
