In parallelogram ABCD, AB = 10 cm. The altitudes corresponding to the sides AB and AD are respectively 7 cm and 8 cm. Find AD.

We have, Area of a ||gm=Base×Height. ∴ar(ABCD)=AB×DM =(10×7) cm2....(i) Also, ar(ABCD)=AD×BN =(AD×8) cm2....(ii)
From (i) and (ii), we get 10×7=AD×8 ⇒AD=10×78 cm=8.75 cm.
