In plant succession the net productivity of climax community
In an ecosystem the rate of production of biomass is called as net productivity. In the process of ecological succession the climax stage in both primary and secondary succession will be a mesic community (forests). In the climax community there is no change in the composition of producers. It is self perpetuating community that is at equilibrium. It remains in perfect harmony with the physical environment and has attained maximum diversity and niche specialization and therefore has a stable net productivity.
