Solution

The correct option is B hypogeal germination
Seed germination may be defined as the fundamental process by which different plant species grow from a seed into a plant. Germination is classified into hypogeal and epigeal germination.

Hypogeal germination is characterised by the retention of the cotyledons underground and the hypocotyl remains in the soil along with the cotyledon. The epicotyl region emerges out of the soil. Pea, mango, and rice undergo hypogeal germination.

In epigeal type, the cotyledons emerge out of the soil during germination. The region below the cotyledon is hypocotyl and above the cotyledon is epicotyl. In epigeal germination, both hypocotyl and epicotyl emerge out of the soil. The upper region of the hypocotyl is bent or curved.

There is no definite or indefinite type of germination.
