Given: l(PL)=4.5 cm, l(PA)=8.5 cm, l(AL)= 6.5cm, l(PY)=5.5 cm and l(YL)=7.5 cm
First, we draw a rough sketch of quadrilateral PLAY and indicate the given lengths, as shown below.

Steps of Construction:
(1) Draw PL = 4.5 cm (the side opposite to the unknown side).

(2) Then, draw an arc taking P as centre and PY (5.5 cm) as radius.

(3) Then, draw another arc taking L as centre and LY (7.5 cm) as radius to intersect the previously drawn arc at a point Y.

(4) Then, draw an arc taking P as centre and A (8.5 cm) as radius on the same side of PL in which point Y lies.

(5) Then, draw another arc taking L as centre and AL (6.5 cm) as radius to intersect the arc drawn in step IV at point A.

(6) Then, join PY, YL, PA, AL, and AY.

Thus, PLAY is the required quadrilateral .
