Solution

Dear Student,

Upthrust is caused due to the upward force which is exerted by a liquid on the body which is immersed. It is due to this force that the heavy objects seem to be lighter when immersed in a liquid. When an object is immersed in a liquid the buoyant force acts in all directions. In addition to that, an upthrust goes on increasing with increasing depth.
