In the adjoining figure, if the angles AOB,BOC,COD are in the ratio 1:2:3 and AD is a straight line, find the measures of all the angles.

Solution

We know that
AOB+BOC+COD=180o .......... (i)
Let AOB=x
But the given hypothesis is BOC=2AOB=2x and COD=3AOB=3x.
From (i), we get
AOB+2AOB+3AOB=180o
Thus, we get 6x=180o.
It follows that AOB=x=30o.
This gives BOC=2×30o=60o and COD=3×30o=90o.
