In the bell jar experiment, how does KOH affect the process of photosynthesis?
Inhibits CO2 intake by plant.
Stops the glucose/ starch production in leaves.
KOH or Potassium hydroxide is an absorbent of carbon dioxide. In the closed jar, entire carbon dioxide is absorbed by KOH. This does not allow production of glucose or starch as glucose is produced by the reduction of carbon dioxide during the process of photosynthesis.
