Question

In the Bohr's model of H-atom, the ratio of kinetic energy to the total energy of the electron in the quantum state n is :

Solution

In the nth quantum state, the relationship between total energy (T.E), kinetic energy (K.E) and potential energy (P.E) is
T.E=K.E+P.E
But P.E=2K.E
Hence, the expression for total energy becomes
T.E=K.E+(2K.E)=K.E
.Hence, the ratio of kinetic energy to the total energy of the electron in the quantum state n is 1.
