In the circuit diagram given below five resistances of 10Ω,40Ω,30Ω,20Ω,and60Ω
are connected in series to a 12 V battery.

Calculate :
(a) the total resistance in the circuit.
(b) the total current flowing in the circuit.

In case of series connection,

a) The total resistance = R=R1+R2+R3+R4+R5

= 10 + 40 + 30 + 20 + 60

= 160 ohm

b) The total current flowing through the circuit = I =V/R

= 12/160

=0.075A
