In the circuit shown, each resistance is $2 Ω$ . The potential $V_{1}$ is as indicated in the circuit. If the magnitude of $V_{1}$ is X volt. Find out the value of X?

Given : $R = 2 Ω$
Equivalent resistance between A and B $R_{A B} = R ∥ R = \frac{R}{2} = 1 Ω$
Current through the circuit $I = \frac{12 - 5}{(2 + 2 + 2 + 1)} = 1$ A
$V_{1} - V_{A} + I (2 + 2) + 5 = 0$ $(V_{A} = 0)$
$∴$ $V_{1} - 0 = - 4 - 5$ $⟹ V_{1} = - 9$ volts
