In the circuit shown in the figure, find the amount of heat generates when switch S is closed.

When the switch is open, q1+q2=0
(V5)×2+(V+10)×4=0
V=5Volts
so,
q1=(55)×2=20μC
q2=(5+10)×4=20μC
After the switch is closed,
q1 and q2 will be same,
only the charge will be in q3
q3=CV=3×10=30μC
So, heat generated=Work done by the battery-Energy stored in capacitor.
10×3012×3×(10)2
=150μJ
