Colour blindness is hereditary which can be transferred to children. If the woman inherits a normal X chromosome in addition to the one which carries the mutation, they will not display the mutation.

Males only have one X chromosome, they have no spare normal chromosome to override the chromosome which carries the mutation.

If a mother is suffering from Red/green colour blindness, then it gets passed from mother to son on 23rd chromosome which is sex chromosome.
