Question

In the daytime, when we go to the sea the air blows towards us and does not go towards the sea. Explain.

Solution

  • In daytime, land gets heated up faster than the water. So, air over land becomes warmer than that over the sea.
  • The warm air over land is lighter and rises, forming a low-pressure area.
  • Air from the sea rushes to this low-pressure area, thus we feel air blowing towards us near the sea.
