In the experiment of leaf and spirit..........Why is the test tube not heated direct ly but placed in a water bath?

it is becuase the spirit is flammable substance (catches fire easily)
so test tube is heated ,there is a chance of getting fire and burning will occur.
Thats why testube is heated in water tube .
in this case,chance of spirit getting fire is zero.
