In the figure, ABCD is a parallelogram, AB and BC are equal to 16 cm and 8 cm, respectively. If DF = 6 cm, what is the value of BE?
Given
BC=8 cm
We know that, area of a parallelogram
=Base×Height
=AB×DF
Since, AD and BE are also base and height respectively, we get,
AB×DF=AD×BE
Putting the values of AB and DF
AB×DF=16 cm×6 cm
=96 cm2
∴AD×BE=96 cm2
Putting the value of AD,
BE×8 cm=96 cm2
∴BE=12 cm
