In the figure, Each cube has a volume of 1cubicunit. Find the volume of the figure and the area of its base.

Step 1: Let’s count the number of cubes that are inside the rectangular prism.

Start with the bottom or base layer, There are 8 cubes in the bottom layer.

There are total of 3layers in the rectangular prism.

Step 2: In order to find the volume of the rectangular prism,

V=8+8+8V=24

In order to find the base area of the rectangular prism, We can use the formula for the volume of a rectangular prism,

V=B·h24=B×3B=8

Hence, the area of the base is 8squareunits & the volume is 24cubicunits.
