The circulatory system supplies oxygen-rich (oxygenated) blood from the lungs to the rest of the body. Similarly, it transfers oxygen deficient (deoxygenated, carbon dioxide-rich) blood from the rest of the body back to the lungs. Remember that the lungs are the site of gaseous exchange where oxygen is absorbed into blood and carbon dioxide is released back into the air.
