The deflection of the compass needle gets reversed


Reversing the polarity of a circuit means connecting the positive terminal of the battery where the negative terminal was initially connected (and vice versa obviously!) Reversing the direction of current in the circuit reverses the direction of the magnetic field. As the direction of magnetic field reverses its direction, the deflection of the compass needle also reverses.
