Given:OB=5cm
OP=3cm
PB2=OB2OP2
PB2=5232=259=16
PB=4cm
Join OA
OA=OB= radius of the circle.
OP=OP(common)
APO=OPB=90
APOOPT by SAS congruency criterion
AP=PB by CPCT
AP=PB=4cm
Hence AB=AP+PB=4+4=8cm
