At point A, by Snell’s law
μ=sin45sinrsinr=1μ2....(i)
At point B, for total internal reflection sini1=1μ
From figure, i1=90r
sin(90r)=1μ
cosr=1μ...(ii)
Now cosr=1sin2r=112μ2
=2μ212μ2....(iii)
From equation (ii) and (iii) 1μ=2μ212μ2
Squaring both side and then solving we get μ=32
