Question

In the figure shows R=100Ω,L=2π H, and C=8π μF are connected in series with an a. c. source of 200 volts and frequency f. V1 and V2 are two hot-wire voltmeters. If the readings of V1 and V2 are same then which of the following is not correct.

A
V1=V2=1000 volt

Solution

The correct option is D f=250π Hz
Given,
R=100Ω

L=2π H

C=8πμ F

According to question , V1=V2 Or VL=VC

XL=XCωL=1ωC

ω2=1LC=12π×8π×106

ω2=(π4×103)2ω=1000π4 or 250π

2πf=250π and f=125 Hz

Option (a) is correct.

Now current through the R is
Irms=VrmsZ= VrmsR2+(XLXC)2

Irms=VrmsR XL=XC

Irms=200100=2 A

And as V1=V2

VC=VL=ωL=2πfL=2π×125×2=1000 volt

Hence, option (b) is the correct alternative.
