When U235 is bombarded with a thermal neutron , it breaks into Ba141 and Kr141 along with the liberation of 3 neutrons , this is how the fission of U235 takes place.

The fission reaction is : U235+0n156Ba141+36Kr92+30n1+200MeV ,
Energy liberated E=200 Mev
Now, we have:
931MeV=1amu
200MeV=200931=0.215 amu, (mass converted into energy)
Mass of U235=235 amu
Therefore, percentage of mass converted into energy =0.215×100235=0.09=0.1%
