  • Cardiac index = Cardiac output/ Total body surface.
So, Cardiac output = Cardiac index X Total body surface = 4 X 1.7 = 6.8litre/min
  • Now, Cardiac output = Stroke volume X heart rate
So, Stroke volume = cardiac output / heart rate = 6800/68 = 100ml
  • Stroke volume (SV) = end diastolic volume (EDV) - end systolic volume (ESV)
So, EDV = SV + ESV = 100 +50 = 150ml
