In the following diagram, the blocks A and B moves with velocities v1 and v2. What is the ratio of v1/v2.

Solution

Here, the length of the string connecting the two block is constant so, it is constraints motion.
The component of the velocity of the block A along the string is V1(cos(θ1))V1(cos⁡(θ1)).
Since, the length of the string is constant so, the two velocities along the string must be same.
i.e.

V1cosθ1=V2cosθ2
V1V2=cosθ2cosθ1
