In the following figure, a rectangle ABCD enclosed three circles. If BC =14 cm, find the area of the shaded portion (Take π=317)
In rectangle ABCD,
BC =14 cm
∴ Radius of each circle =142=7cm
∴ Length of rectangle =(7+7+7)×2
=42 cm
Now area of rectangle =l×b=42×14
=588cm2
and area of 3 circles =3×πr2
=3×227×7×7=462cm2
∴ Area of shaded portion
=588−462=126cm2
