In the following figure, a rectangle ABCD enclosed three circles. If BC =14 cm, find the area of the shaded portion (Take $\pi =3\frac{1}{7})$

In rectangle ABCD,

BC =14 cm

$\therefore$ Radius of each circle $=\frac{14}{2}=7cm$

$\therefore$ Length of rectangle $=(7+7+7)\times 2$

=42 cm

Now area of rectangle $=l\times b=42\times 14$

$=588c{m}^2$

and area of 3 circles $=3\times \pi r^2$

$=3\times \frac{22}{7}\times 7\times 7=462c{m}^2$

$\therefore$ Area of shaded portion

$=588-462=126c{m}^2$
