In the following schematic diagram for the preparation of hydrogen gas as shown in figure, what would happen if in place of Zn granules same amount of zinc dust is taken in the test tube?

Solution

When zinc dust is taken instead of zinc granules to react with sulfuric acid the hydrogen gas is formed but the rate of reaction increases in case of zinc dust compared to zinc granules, due to increase in surface ares rate of reaction increases. So, hydrogen gas is produced at faster rate.
