Question

In the food-chain below, if frogs were completely destroyed, how would it affect plants, insects and snakes?

Open in App
Solution

If the frogs are eliminated from the given food chain, the population of insects will abruptly increase as insects are the main food source of frogs which in turn will destroy crops. Secondly, the population of snakes would decrease as they would start dying due to starvation in the absence of frogs. In the absence of snakes, kite will feed on other organisms.
