In the formation of electrovalent compounds electrons are transferred from one element to another. How are electrons involved in the formation of a covalent compound?
In Covalent compounds, Electrons are shared between the atoms of two or more elements.
1. The chemical bond that is formed between two combining atoms by mutual sharing of one or more pairs of electrons is called a covalent bond and the compound formed due to this bond is called a covalent compound.
2. They have weak intermolecular forces of attraction.
3. They have low melting and boiling point as compared to ionic compounds.
