Find the area of DEF:

Given that,

ABC~DEF

AB=2DE or ABDE=2

ABC=56cm2

We know that the ratio of area of two similar triangles is equal to the squares of the ratio of corresponding sides.

AreaofABCAreaofDEF=AB2DE2

Substitute the values we get,

56AreaofDEF=ABDE2

56AreaofDEF=22 [Since ABDE=2]

AreaofDEF=564AreaofDEF=14cm2

Therefore, the area of DEF is 14 sq.cm.
